The hotel was built in the 19th Century and later fully restored by the state government and the Bureau for the Preservation of Colonial Buildings. Therefore the original appearance of the terraces, corridors, balconies and staircase was preserved where possible. The restaurant El Mesonero is widely accepted to be the best restaurant in town and offers its patrons a carefully selected international menu in a stylish atmosphere.
